Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore
Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore is a 2022 fantasy film directed by David Yates from a screenplay by J. K. Rowling and Steve Kloves, based on a screenplay by Rowling. It is the sequel to Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (2018), the third instalment in the Fantastic Beasts film series and the eleventh overall in the Wizarding World franchise. The film features an ensemble cast that includes Eddie Redmayne, Jude Law, Ezra Miller, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Callum Turner, Jessica Williams, Katherine Waterston, and Mads Mikkelsen. Set several years after the events of its predecessor, the film sees Albus Dumbledore tasking Newt Scamander and his allies with a mission that takes them into the heart of dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald's army. The film was slated for release in November 2020, before it was pushed back to July 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Much of the main cast from the first two films confirmed their involvement in March 2020. Principal photography was set to begin in early 2020, but was postponed due to the pandemic, eventually commencing in September 2020. Johnny Depp, who portrayed Grindelwald in previous films, was originally set to return and filmed one scene for the film, but was asked to resign in November 2020 following the verdict of the Depp v News Group Newspapers Ltd court case; Mads Mikkelsen replaced him later that month. Filming took place until February 2021. Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore premiered at the Royal Festival Hall in London on 29 March 2022, and was released in the United Kingdom on 8 April 2022 and in the United States on 15 April, by Warner Bros. Pictures. The film received mixed reviews from critics and grossed over $407 million worldwide, making it the lowest-grossing film in the Wizarding World franchise.
What is this place? The room we require. I trust you all have the tickets that Bunty gave you? You'll need them to gain access to the ceremony. What do you think, Newt? Can you tell which one is yours? No. Good. I'd be worried if you could. I assume the Qilin's in one of these cases. Yes. - Well, which one is it? - Which one indeed. Ooh, it's like a three-card monte thing. Like a shell game thing. Like a short con. Never mind, it's a Muggle thing. Grindelwald will do anything within his powers to get his hands on our rare friend. Therefore, it's essential that we keep whoever he dispatches on his behalf guessing... so the Qilin gets to the ceremony safely. If, by teatime, the Qilin, not to mention all of us, are still alive, we should consider our efforts a success. For the record, nobody ever died playing three-card monte. An important distinction. All right, everybody choose a case and we'll be on our way. Mr. Kowalski, you and I will proceed together first. Me? Okay. I'm looking forward to you educating me a little further on the finer points of three-card monte.

It is not lost on those of us in leadership that we are currently a world divided. Each day brings talk of another conspiracy. Each hour another dark whisper. These whispers have only increased in recent days with the addition of a third candidate. There is only one way to leave absolutely no doubt that a worthy candidate exists amongst the three you have been presented. As every schoolboy and girl knows, the Qilin is the purest of creatures in our wonderful magical world. It cannot be deceived. Let the Qilin unite us.

Where to, next? Uh, this is where I leave you. I'm... I'm sorry, you're what? Leaving me? I have to meet someone else, Mr. Kowalski. Not to worry... you'll be perfectly safe. You don't have the Qilin. Feel free to drop the case at the first hint of trouble. One other thing, if you don't mind me saying. You should stop doubting yourself. You have something most men go their entire lives without. Do you know what that is?
