The Man from U.N.C.L.E.

The Man from U.N.C.L.E. is a 2015 spy film directed by Guy Ritchie and written by Ritchie and Lionel Wigram. It is based on the 1964 MGM television series of the same name, which was created by Norman Felton and Sam Rolfe. The film stars Henry Cavill, Armie Hammer, Alicia Vikander, Elizabeth Debicki, and Hugh Grant. The film was produced by RatPac-Dune Entertainment and Davis Entertainment while Turner Entertainment Co., the original TV series current holder, was also involved. In 1993, John Davis obtained the rights for a film adaptation based on the original series. However, the film fell into development limbo due to multiple script rewrites. Over the years, Matthew Vaughn, David Dobkin, and Steven Soderbergh were optioned for directing until Ritchie signed on in March 2013. The film premiered at Barcelona on August 2, 2015, and was released on August 14, 2015, by Warner Bros. It received mixed reviews from critics and was a box office bomb, grossing only $110 million worldwide on a $75 million budget. Rolling Stone listed this movie 50th on the best action movies of all time.

No, no, no, it's a real bomb. Quite a nasty one too. But not nuclearized. There's no uranium in it.

That includes submarines. What about fishing boats leaving the mainland? The boats go out every morning at dawn. I saw them. How many of them are there?

Submarine surfaces at 0800. Gives us 20 minutes, gentlemen. Diadema. That's Sergio Vinciguerra's old fishing boat. I suggest we start there.

Can you get them on the radio? You can get a bearing from the radio signal, yes? If we keep them broadcasting for long enough. I have an idea which might make things quicker.

Mr. Solo, this is your cue. Thank you. Diadema, this is Napoleon Solo. Hello, Victoria. I suspect that you're already listening... ...so I'll give you this message directly. Earlier today... ...I killed your husband.

We're wasting our time. This isn't working. If you could just shut up, thank you very much. Ramp it up, please, Solo. I'd like to report that he died honorably, courageously and selflessly. But he didn't. Instead, it was a rather pitiful affair involving tears, begging... ...and offers to trade anything and, indeed, anyone... ...so that I would spare his life. Napoleon.

I appreciate your message... ...and now I hope you'll appreciate mine. Any blood relation of yours still living will be dead within the year. They will die slowly and painfully. And you know from personal experience, this is an area in which we excel. Bearing 0-4-5, captain. There's nothing you'll be able to do but witness their suffering... ...as you await your own death, which I will save for last. - This I vow on my husband's soul. - All yours, captain. Thank you. Won't you have to inform your organization to achieve that? After we deliver the warhead you so desperately sought... ...it will be the first item on my agenda. And you will die, Solo, knowing you failed completely. We have the professor's disk. We can build as many bombs as we need. - Ready. - Yes, proceed, please, captain.
